The NFL preseason if finally underway and even though a lot people have been looking forward to the debut of big-name rookie quarterbacks like Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Jimmy Clausen and Sam Bradford, there are some other big-name QBs making their debut with new teams like six-time Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb.
During his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Donovan McNabb was arguably one of the top five quarterbacks in the league as he consistently led his team to winning seasons with five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl appearance.
Unfortunately, the future Hall of Fame QB was never able to lead Philly to a Super Bowl title and after last season the Eagles decided to cut their ties with the veteran quarterback by trading him to the division rival Washington Redskins and handing the team over to youngster Kevin Kolb.
This seemed to be a good move for both storied NFL franchises as it will arguably make both teams better moving forward, but it remains to be seen whether or not McNabb can continue his success under center with a less than appealing receiving corps in Washington.
Despite not having the prime targets he had in Philly with DeSean Jackson and Brian Westbrook, McNabb presence alone should make the team better and we might see some unknown Redskins receivers become Pro Bowl caliber players this season.
There may be about three weeks left before the NFL regular season officially begins for the Washington Redskins, but we will get our first look at Donovan McNabb in a under center in a Redskins uniform on Friday against the Buffalo Bills.
Even though the Bills have improved their ground game this offseason after drafting running back C.J. Spiller out of Clemson, they will almost certainly be in for a long night against the vastly improved Washington squad on Friday night.
